So the people at Small Cap Awards emailed this week to say that they’ve decided to enter me into the journalist of the year category for this year’s awards.
From the Small Cap Awards website:
The Awards are an opportunity to recognise outstanding achievement in the quoted UK Small-Cap market (defined as sub £150m market cap)
Well this is a nice surprise considering the nominees:
- Andrew Hore, AIM Journal, AIM Micro
- Ben Jaglom, Growth Company Investor
- Yours Truly, Shares and Stocks Markets
- James Faulkner, Spreadbet Magazine
- Simon Thompson, Investors Chronicle
Due to the standard of the nominees I’m being realistic and treating it as a nice evening out with good food and an excuse to wear a tuxedo 🙂
Still it’s nice to be invited and I shall be attending.
The thing about the Shares and Stock Markets website is that it is a labour of love since I do not derive an income from it/monetise it.
Yes there are Google Ads but thats about it.
I’ve tried one or two monetisation strategies in order to fund the growth of this website and it’s output but for one reason or another they’ve not worked out.
This is a shame since I’d love nothing more than to write and publish at least three well researched independent articles a day to tie in with my own participation in the US and UK stock markets.
My view is that if this website cannot be monetised and dare I say it produce significant cash flows then it simply will not grow because I’m unable to sacrifice the time to write three well researched articles a day AND research stocks for my own portfolio.
It may happen one day maybe but for today I’m happy to produce positive cash flows from the stocks I buy and sell and share my experiences on this website.
To the Small Cap Awards: thank you for the nomination and see you on 11th June 2015
